    …as well as slobbery, given to howling sometimes at nothing and uncoordinated to the point of tripping over their own ears. (We had some bassets when I was growing up.)

    Weren’t they also the mascot for Hush Puppies shoes? Anyway, Fred, you don’t have to tell us that your breed is friendly, outgoing and playful; you prove that every day. As for “extremely vocal,” you “talk” more than any dog I know, and I thoroughly enjoy our daily chats.
