My cat was 23 lbs, not fat at all, but a huge cat. He was first into the family so he ruled the roost. If the dogs got out of line they knew they would get a smack with a big paw, claws in. Yet when the cat got cancer and was sick for three years ( pills every Thursday night for three years) he would sleep a lot on a blanket on the living room floor. The dogs always curled up beside him, right up against him, touching him. They comforted him. When he died at 18 years old, the dogs mourned his death. Yes, animals to mourn a death.
