if the grandparents have the same surname as your father, then they’re your father’s parents; different surname means your mother’s parents… BUT if they have a different surname as both your parents, then your mother and/or father’s parent and stepparent
Alice reminds me of my best friend’s kid sister from years ago, except that her conversations were more like “Guess what? We were downtown an’ guess what! There was a horse, an’ GUESS WHAT…!”
We used to try to sidetrack her by pretending we were guessing what.
