Enjoy your bird brained activity Bud but leave her to her reading. Don’t interrupt her reading. Especially if she doesn’t share your interest in the birds. Really. Don’t interrupt her reading.
In normal times (not now), we take all our photography equipment out on a pontoon and explore the Intercostal Waterway here in Florida. We have gotten amazing photographs of native birds (as well as dolphins and manatees). Although we have become adept at identification of the ones most often seen, once in awhile, we see something unusual or new to us. To identify, we use an App called “Merlin”. You upload the photo, tell Merlin the location/region where bird was spotted and Merlin will identify it. If Merlin is unsure, he gives you a choice of several birds (good for when your photo isn’t great), and that way YOU can see which bird looks closest to what you saw. It’s a great App !!!

Let him be, Betty. It keeps him busy and out of your hair, at least until he learns something new. Maybe you can keep busy making him merit badges.

But he doesn’t differentiate between the Eurasian tree sparrow and the American tree sparrow!

C’mon, Betty. You wanted him to have an activity. Even if he did turn kinda bird-brained.

You’re almost done, Bub. There are only about 600 bird species in the US.

The infusion of new knowledge can be as stimulating as a drug. Like a kid in school.

My dad was very much like him. Had to share everything that he found new or interesting. :D

My cat enjoys watching squirrels and the birds immensely. Gives him exercise though, ought to see him running through the house.

Betty is a spoilsport and an eternal nag. She never has anything good to say.

It’s OK to slow her reading down. She needs to make the book last because the library and the book store are both closed.
