He replies, "Because my mother went to the hospital last night..."<br> <br> He continues, "My dad said she'll be all right..in fact, he said she'll be home in about five days.."<br> <br> Lucy looks at the reader and asks, "Five days? I wonder...do you suppose..I wonder if..No, it couldn't be..still.."<br> <br>

Someone on the old Google Groups for comic strips pointed out how unusual it seems to us today that Charlie Brown was kept in the dark until the birth…whereas today, he’d be in the delivery room with his dad, aunts, uncles, and a camera crew!
