No matter which format, paper or digital, the benefits of reading books are the same, but not if you are using the book for another purpose besides reading.
I prefer real books; if there is a worry over paper waste, why not get secondhand books. I try to read e-books sparingly because your eyes absorb a lot of blue light from regular computer use anyway, and it isn’t good.
