Today’s comic reminds me of when Fluff (a Retriever/Airedale mix) and the neighbor dog would dig under the chainlink fence to cross over and play. When we built a replacement fence we first dug a trench (like the one here) and dropped 2 layers of cinder blocks so they couldn’t dig anymore. Fluff dug once again, and when she couldn’t go straight she turned left and dug a tunnel under the grass along the fence line.

But great trench for play/pretending some kind of war game.

Fill it with water and you can have a moat around the house.

Speaking of moat, isn’t it time Sophie introduced Annie to the swamp critter?

It’s only been a few months since our St Bernard passed, I wonder how long her trails through the yard will still show

You have your entrenchment ready in case the Boche stormtroopers try to overrun the yard.

Well, the property line is pretty well defined now.

That, or the Boche are just across the field.

On the upside, that’ll make it all the easier to dig under the fence…and then you don’t have to worry about a fence at all!
