As a military person, I tend to think in military terms. One of the reasons the blitzkrieg worked in Poland, Czechoslovakia and even France is because they tried to stop the German Army at the border. Once the front was penetrated, the war was lost.
Russia, on the other hand, swallows invading armies whole. It lets them in, surrounds them and absorbs them like an amoeba. It’s sort of like a boxer who has already thrown his punch. When the arm is fully extended there in no more power left in the punch.
People are like this too. Those with small personalities have to maintain the facade at all costs. They cannot afford to let people in and a lot of effort is put into the defense of the facade. Confident people, on the other hand, can withstand attacks on their facades and survive them. They let other people in. In apparent vulnerability, there is strength.
Confident people are “big enough to take the hits.”
