My biology teacher deliberately fed a snake a mouse a day. Then, after a few days, dissected the snake to show the stages of digestion. That demonstration inspired me to seek other fields of science.
My mom and my aunt would do this. They would visit the doctor once a week and get their blood sugar levels checked and then go across the street to the diner where they would have food they weren’t allowed to eat (and didn’t) for the rest of the week.

Hmmm, come to think of it, I never saw a morbidly obese snake. But, now I’m hungry for a 1950s version Hostess cupcake.
