I am going to guess that dog is either responsible for the kids disappearing, OR it is going to catch the “thing” that is causing the problem.

He’s definitely not a dog. More like a cat.

It doesn’t matter whether he’s a dog. What matters is that he’s a good boy!

Now we may see if, in addition to being a good boy, his powers of cuteness persuasion are on point, and by the end of the day he has won her over. Being knew to this strip though, I am unfamiliar with the depths of her dark heart.
