Sonny is correct. Pigeons have magnetite-based receptors in their heads that allow them to sense both the direction of the earth’s magnetic field line and probably their intensity. Jack’s head, however, may be a bit emptier.

It’s hard to uninvite someone who’s just invited himself in, innit?
I do believe that the pigeon remark relates to Jack?
Jack will come back, IF… they leave him alone and don’t pester/question him.
