This was an entirely new page for the published version. Makes for a smoother transition between an unknown knocker at the door and Erin inside talking to the kids.
Lottie’s hostility is because she’s still harboring a grudge from previous interactions with Erin, where Erin used their investigations in her articles but got their names wrong. Deliberately wrong, because as we see here, she remembers Charlotte’s name perfectly well when she needs to.
I don’t know how Erin knew where to find the kids.
Good thing Erin managed to escape! It’s pretty sad to see that the only ones she can ask for help in a dangerous moment are kids. Poor Erin, the only (almost) friend she has just turned into a monster… I hope Lottie able to forgive, Mildred immediately understood that she needs help.
There is a play on words in p5. “Say your piece, Winters” as opposed to “Say your peace, Winters”. It fits because Winters is a reporter. Be well my friends.

No, Jack won’t tell the password to any old alley cat in a skirt. But to one in cowboy boots, well…

I think Erin just understands how your brain works better than you realize, Lottie.

How in the Tackleford world did Erin escape without harm? Somehow she was able to not grin and bear it.
