This, you may recall, is Jack’s sister Jessica, and her friends Sian (on the left) and Lauren (on the right). Lauren and Jess are head and deputy head girls, respectively. As a Yankee, I’m not entirely clear on what that means, except that they have purple ties where everyone else’s are red, and Lauren (as established in SGR when Esther was head girl) has “the right to ‘smoke a pipe of good tobacco in the staff room every second Thursday’”. I’m assuming they also wield the power of high and low justice over the lower classes.

Oddly, Lauren is using a computer with some kind of fruit, or possibly a Pac-Man with an accent, on it rather than a standard Amstrad or Zambian machine.

As I mentioned yesterday, the top half of this page is new, added to fill out the page for publication, and the bottom half was originally posted between the two strips that were combined to make yesterday’s page.
