I Google it so you don’t have to:GCSE is the “General Certificate of Secondary Education.” UK students take the qualifying exams, usually at about age 16. GCSE used to be known as “O Levels.”
First time I saw this comic, I thought the game was made up, because that was usually the trend with video games in the past, and that I missed that “Nega” is supposed to be a play on real-life company “Sega.” But turns out, it is a real game (and it’s gameplay mostly faithfully recreated here), though we must be seeing another sign of how the timelines were changed after the previous storyarc, because real-life Zaxxon was a critical and commerical success, not a massive flop comparable to Atari’s infamous “E.T.” game.

I really liked that game.

Panel 4: “Sometimes being too early is as bad as being too late.” Great foreshadowing of Jack being too late in Panel 8.

Linton only under duress, but it’s the thought that counts.

It appears both Lauren and Jack are actually in the game in panel 4, and Jack may have the likes for Lauren?

Enemy jerks.

It seems that admitting that was a real pain for Linton.
