This is Mike Savage, who featured back in “The Case of the Unwelcome Visitor” as the Night Creeper’s host.
Lottie’s mentor is Shelley Winters, who indeed used to work at the Cormorant, back in Scary Go Round days. Mike is well familiar with Shelley. In “The Great Tackleford Show”, the two of them were partnered to report on the Tackleford fair. Shelley got high on jam and foisted her job off on Amy. Mike spent his time doing gonzo journalism in the beer tent until he regressed to atavism. Shelley was then attacked by a giant bee, but Mike threw himself in front of it, and was stung through the chest. He survived only because he was so drunk that biology had gotten confused and assumed he was already dead.
Paula fired Shelley over it. Mike has apparently been condemned to the worse fate of having to continue to work at the Cormorant.

People mispronouncing “nuclear” is a minor pet peeve of mine, but I love it here for some reason.

“…and possibly the future of news.” Well, the news does seem to have gone nuclear, er, Nucular, in these times.
Whatever happened to common sense? about 2 months ago
There is no such word as “nucular.”

Is Lottie’s chosen wardrobe really to be considered proper attire when applying for a job as a journalist? Or does it matter, for an unpaid position?

Hmm…Lottie’s idea of business casual?
