Come on Gladys! Can’t you cut Brutus a break? Maybe you need to go and get a part-time job somewhere.

This reminds me of a line from comedian Paul Lynde’s short lived TV show from the early’70s that I still remember:

His wife: “How’s the rat race going dear?”

Lynde: “The rats are winning.”

I believe it was Lilly Tomlin who said “The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you’re still a rat.”

I once accidentally dropped a badge saying “The rat-race is over: the rats won” down Chalice Well in Glastonbury.
