definitely not “one size fits all” when it comes to golf clubs and ten-year-olds

I don’t golf, I have better ways of spending my money and raising my blood pressure.

That’s why you get kid’s clubs.

As a short person, I feel Jason’s pain.

It’s actually the angle of the club head that affects how far it goes. If you need a long drive, you select a club where the face is closer to vertical (and for putting, the face is perfectly vertical.) If you need to clear a hill or come up and out of a sand trap, you might use a club where the head is tilted back more so it’s more like a pop fly (ball goes more up-and-down than out and away.)

Now not being a golfer, I can’t tell you if a 1-iron has more distance or if it’s more height than a 9-iron but whichever one is more like a wedge/ramp than a wall is the one that will give more height and less distance.

An important factor in how far the ball will go is the loft of the club face. That should appeal to Jason’s desire to do calculations.

I think that the loft of a club is the key factor in determining how far it will hit the golf ball. The lower the loft on a club the farther it will go, if you know what you are doing. OK maybe the golfer is the first key factor.
