Why is it that the evil king or queen is always the one that chases after the hero? You’re the alien queen! Who cares if you’re the most powerful if you don’t use that power to hire guards that chase annoying heroes for you?

Just remembered first grade, there was a kid who lived near the school and was used to morning kindergarten. During morning recess of the first week, he went home.

No matter how fast he travels he can’t beat a phone call home.

Just love Spaceman Spiff strips. The artwork is great. The story line is great. I have no problem believing this is the fantasy of a 7 year old. I realize Spaceman Spiff strips as a steady diet would probably loose their attraction, but I’m willing to risk it.

I tried that with staff meetings…..ended about the same as Calvin’s adventures. I didn’t bring my Hobbes along either – tactical error.

Calvin is one kid that I would stay away from.

What Calvin doesn’t realise yet, is that regardless of HOW delusional he might be…he COULD grow up, and become the president of the United States. Just imagine what a delusional mind could do to the country…but no…that could never happen, could it?

I get the feeling the real queen will be waiting for spiff with a far more terrible torture.

Gosh, I don’t understand all the comments about Calvin needing counseling, or being a kid to stay away from, or being bad somehow. Seems like a normal boy to me. After all, he just reminds me of ME at his age!

Way to go Spiff. The trouble with being free to go anywhere is, ultimately, having no place to go.

Did Spiff remember to re-engage the hyperdrive?

Looks like Calvin’s elementary school was built in the 1950s or 1960s, judging by the second panel…

…and dad thought it would be just another day in his office…

I can imagine a panel between #2 and #3 with Spiff sliding on his butt across the hull and into the cockpit.

For a man who admitted he thought comic books were terrible (hence Hobbes drawing on Calvin’s books), Watterson made a good use of the cliffhanger.
