Best cup of coffee I ever had was at the Pan American bldg in NYC way back in the 60’s. Absolutely the best.
Been searching for something similar ever since. No Luck!
Saw a tv show where they feed coffee beans to this little bird ….then after he..um…excretes the beans they’re Dried, “cleaned” then roasted,& ground. People pay up to $40.00 per CUP! Claim its the best in the world.
JSFMIKE: No wonder you can’t find it! It’s now the MetLife Building. They serve the same coffee on MetLife airplanes.
TheDOCTOR: They do the same thing with civets, though I think it’s a nasty joke on gullible foreigners. I’d be willing to swallow some beans and charge only $20 a cup. Any takers?
Coffee in general: Someone (probably an Arab) said, “See that bush? I’m gonna pick those berries, throw away the flesh, keep only the seeds, burn them in a fire, grind them between stones, soak them in hot water, then throw away what’s left and drink just the water.” Never did make much sense to me. But as a flavoring with cream and sugar, coffee is wonderful, especially as ice cream.
Civet coffee is real. The civets eat the berries and the seeds/beans survive their digestive system. The beans are cleaned out of the scat, rinsed, dried, roasted, etc.
He’s not frying the coffee, he’s roasting it. That’s how it was done many years ago at home. Green coffee beans will keep for up to a year or more without going stale.

I’ll try it. I’ll try anything once and if I like it, I’ll have another go.
Anybody out there tried it?

Yeah, coffee makes no sense. Which is why I’m about to brew a pot.
