True story: Went to a baseball game at Candlestick Park the last year the Giants played there, and the Village People performed in a pregame show.

Were rather good I might say, especially when Alex Briley sang a song that was more of a gospel/soul genre than pop or disco.

Just the coach on the sidelines frantically waving his challenge flag…

The ball needs this much air to be properly inflated.

Boy, this got the tears of nostalgia flowing down my cheeks.

One of my friends son was going to the Naval Academy. I gave him the tape of “In the Navy” and he put it in the car. When they left to go to the Academy, it blared out of the radio

Somebody’s excited about the NFL schedule’s recent release.

It’s a signal only seen in the stands, “Hey beer man, pass me a Miller High Life.”

First one was right but I think the second one is referee time out or TV time out..the last one is a safty. Now the third one would have been the one to make up.

Speaking as someone who loves good music and no longer watches football except under duress – even watching football (hell, even watching poker or golf) is better than watching the Village People.

And I must add, I always loved the Doonesbury where Mark’s bosses were insisting he play some hits on his show (this was before his NPR-talk-show days, IIRC); he submitted, and says into the mic "Next we’re going to hear “Bad Girls” by Donna Summer, and “YMCA” by the Village People", and the suits are all smiles. He then explains “One is a paean to the joys of prostitution*, and other is about picking up teenage homosexuals at a public gymnasium*”. And the suits’ jaws drop on dismay……..

Just like Ronnie Raygun thought “Born In The USA” fit his mindless jingoism; people just don’t listen.

*And to be perfectly clear, my objections to these are, like Marvelous Mark’s, based not on their subject matter, but rather on the fact that they are (like all disco)absolutely fecal excuses for music.

The “American Bandstand” crowd came up with the famous arm movements, not the Village Peeps.

I tossed this out of my Memory Warehouse decades ago.

Round dancers have a great cha-cha choreographed to “YMCA” in which the dancers are encouraged to see if they can simultaneously get the footwork while performing the armwork (kind of like patting your head while rubbing your stomach). Harder than it sounds.
