It’s interesting that in this strip we have one of those few occasions where Calvin turns and speaks to the audience.

There’s the “Here and now” edition. It’s basically the same game, with the same denomination and prices, but with everything bumped up. (100 is now 1.00 million, for example.)

It’s the Calvinball version of Monopoly!

The thing about monopoly is that it’s only deathly long if you have your own rules (like the free parking money). If you stick to the official rules, it averages only a few hours.

Regarding “Margueritem” & “Hobbes’ ” absence, I have known some individuals who post comments masquerading as different people.

It gets particularly interesting when they get involved in a conversation between the multiple personalities.

I will be playing Monopoly with Calvin and Hobbes today.

Personally, I don’t like it when they break the fourth wall (i.e. look at and speak to the audience).

For me Calvin and Hobbes are real people. The line could just as easily have been said by Calvin to Hobbes. That would have been just as funny.

NB: It is very rare for me to find even the tiniest thing about a C&H cartoon that isn’t pitch perfect. Bill Watterson was a TOTAL GENIUS.

Mister Ed, you are right about “posers” but Marg is too adult to do something that childish. Marg is Marg. :-)

We made up a new game out of my son’s when he was a kid. I remember it was just too complicated for his age.

There have been a couple of times where Calvin makes a comment to the audience at the end but I can’t recall them both turning. I always liked the first half of monopoly where you race for the properties but the second half was a bit tedious after a while.

Maybe marg has given up postings (or reading the comics) for Lent. Let’s hope it’s nothing more than that.

Monoply is usually boring. Case in point, my brother just forced me to spend a whole weekend playing the game. :P

I’ll be trying that sometime.
