I was a technical writing major in college. This was, of course, part of the English department. I knew so many people who were getting degrees that had no chance of preparing them for actual jobs. After I graduated, I went to work in the field I had studied. Most of the others had no firm plans upon graduation. Why waste four years in studying something that does not prepare you for a career?

Them that’s got, shall get
Them that’s not, shall lose
So the Bible said, and it still is news
Mama may have, and papa may have
God bless’ the child,
That’s got his own
That’s got his own
Yes the strong seem to get more
While the weak ones fade
Empty pockets don’t
Ever make the grade ….
