Nowadays I don’t extend my hand to anyone. But If someone extends their hand to me, I shake it. But my first impression of that person is they don’t take infectious disease seriously. Then I wash my hands or put on hand sanitizer as soon as possible.
The dolphin/mirror experiments involve placing ink marks on a dolphins that the animal cannot see without properly orienting itself in front of a mirror. They also used water filled fake markers to test reactions. Dolphins responded to both by self examination in a mirror, but quit the process quickly when no mark was reflected… or spent longer studying an actual Mark from different angles.
But even more fun to watch are the videos of dolphins capering, mugging, making faces, and posing in pairs in front of mirrors.
Poor dolphins, they’re one of those species screwed over by evolution, in that they developed a high level of intelligence but got a body that’s incapable of developing tools of any kind.

Most people also don’t know that Franz collaborated with his Polish contemporary Fredric to create the first Chopin-Liszt

Oh, so if I come up and belch while saying “Hi,” at least it wasn’t a bad FIRST impression.

I know people that form first impressions before they even meet somebody.
