Has there ever been a movie version of Frankenstein in which the monster appears but not the doctor? I could add it to my list of movies where the main character has no name: Rebecca, A Fistful of Dollars, Polar Express, Brother from Another Planet….

Speaking to Victor Frankenstein, the monster says “I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the fallen angel” …

In the book, the monster realizes he’s essentially Dr. Frankenstein’s son. He says “I learned from your papers that you were my father, my creator.’ So, as he identifies as the son of Dr. Frankenstein, then his name is also Frankenstein.

Well, actually, it’s called “Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.” Fit that in the panel and have room for the artwork, smart guy.

“I want to tell you something!” the Doctor said. “I am Dr. Frankenstein! This is my creation, and HIS name is… Frankenstein!” The new Mr. Frankenstein shyly, proudly, showed the gleaming ring on his finger.

Isn’t its name Adam. I read the book in 7th grade half way through Eisenhower’s second term so my memory may not be completely reliable. :-)
