(Judge Parker) I’m new to this strip. Could someone tell me what’s going on?

(Mark Trail) I love the artwork in panel 2.

(Phantom) I don’t think it’s that easy to get over that barbed wire.

(Rex Morgan) Wonder where this is leading.

(Pnntm) Joy abounds in the Deep Woods. Justice is imminent at Boomsby Prison. Tomorrow we’ll have the alternate Sunday strip….this storyline to be cont. on Monday.

(Rex Morgan M.D.) Berna becomes intrigued with one of Dexter’s new “toys”; maybe she begin will see things from Dex’s point of view and be more sympathetic. If Dex lives with her due to limited financial resources, he probably has had very few “wants” satisfied (i.e. needs vs. wants). So he went a bit over the deep end when winning the lottery was about to make some of his “wants” possible.

(Mark Trail) Suspense! The educational strip runs on Sunday, so we’ll have to wait until Monday to find out the “one problem” Mark needs the widow to help him with before they can escape in Otto’s plane.

(Apt. 3-G) Is Mr. Mallory, Iris’ date, going to bail? Is she going to invite Dan Diller to go to the “Big City” play with her second ticket? Is he (DD) really an eccentric millionaire? (He talks like a sailor - someone with sailing experience)

(FoxTrot) Marcus says, “Maybe you should stand over here to launch it. I agree.

davidf42: If you like the panel 2 artwork in today’s Mark Trail strip, you should enjoy the Sunday Mark Trails – check out tomorrows strip and back up to March 13, March 6, etc.:

davidf42: I haven’t followed Judge Parker, but it is interesting that the creator is Nicholas P. Dallis (who also created Rex Morgan M.D. and Apartment 3-G). Here’s a link that might be helpful, and maybe someone else can fill us in re the current storyline: http://www.toonopedia.com/parker.htm

(REX) Berna’s going to be likin’ Dex’s purchase!! @Florchi, your probably right on your thought…

(3G) Dan “THE MAN” is seizing up Iris- “very interesting” can’t wait to see where this is going.

(MW) Well, also, wonder where this is going now, Nowhere?

SWEETBILL: (MW) Last storyline ended the same way - there was a set-up that I thought would bring some drama, but then it went on in a sugary fashion day after day…and that was it.

(JUDGE PARKER) Since the creator of REX and APT. 3-G also created this strip (and davidf42 has expressed some interest), why don’t we give it a try for a week or two? Maybe a regular JP reader will chime in with some help. In the meantime, take a look at the link I posted for davidf42 (above).

(JUDGE PARKER, cont.) The amusing “Understanding Judge Parker” blog ceased updates on 8/13/2010. However, the (apparently tongue-in-cheek) Introduction is still out there along with archived comments.

I read Judge Parker long ago so thought I’d try it again. As near as I can tell, the Judge now writes books about the young lawyer. They went to NYC to start a book tour but the PR manager had a heart attack and died. Connie is a very aggressive young intern who is taking over. Angel is a limo driver but seems very knowledgeable about the publishing business and has some inside informataion.

Thanks for the links Florchi. I hadn’t realized the connection between the 3 strips.

For a couple of nerds, Jason and Marcus have sure done some dumb things lately! It IS rocket science.

Florchi - Thanks for the links. After reading the blogspot, I am more intrigued about the strip than ever. Actually, I included JP in my comments because I thought it was already on y’all’s list of On Topic posts. I apologize if I opened an off topic discussion. But like you said, if no further interest is shown in a week or two, I’ll drop it.

davidf42: It was a good idea - especially since Judge Parker was created by Nicholas P. Dallis, who also created Rex Morgan M.D. & Apartment 3-G. Marvee is being helpful Let’s give it a try for a couple weeks and see how it goes. :-)

Hola everyone. All of the Spanish strips, except Baldo Espanol, are still on 3/19. Same thing happened last time. So, I’ll just comment here at 3/19 for now.

(FoxTrot) I read the 3/20 English version and was looking forward to learning the Spanish word for cookies.

(Phntm) Great strip today - new Sunday adventure starts next week.

Nothing new at Mark Trail, Apt. 3-G or Mary Worth. June’s expression in the last panel is about the only thing new at Rex M.D.

(Judge Parker) Thanks for your comments marvee. My take after looking back: Apparently the judge (Alan Parker) has written a book called “The Chambers Affair.” His publisher is Cheatham House (Larry Cheatham). Constance “Connie” Darling is just a marketing intern, but appears bright and well-connected. Jackie, one of Connie’s bosses at the PR firm was hit by a bus (and then had a heart attack and died) and the other boss, Claudia, has gone into labor, so Connie is going to be taking over the Judge’s PR tour (her big chance!). Judge Parker seems to be impressed with Connie’s talent and her family background (Dad is retired councilman and Mom is a political writer). While Angel is a limo driver, I sense there could be something more…he says he has known Connie since she was a kid growing up in Manhattan….also see the March 10 dialogue…? The other guy’s name is Sam and Angel calls him “Mr. Driver.” Is he the young lawyer you refer to, marvee? In today’s strip, Sam and Angel are about to head out for a night on the town. Sam mentions that the Judge’s next book is going to be about someone named Dixie Julep. Is “The Chambers Affair” about Sam? Who are the two people Back at Home in today’s last panel? Any corrections or additional input appreciated!

Brenda fans – Be sure to read today’s Gasoline alley!

(Judge Parker) If Judge Parker and Dixie Julep are sharing a suite, I wonder if there’s more going on than just writing a bio? And a big thanks to Florchi for the help.

(Phantom) OK. Next Sunday we start a new story. It’ll be easier to follow starting from the beginning.

(Rex Morgan) She’s just amazed by the new technology.

davidf42: Re today’s Judge Parker) Angel refers to Dixie Julep, saying “…when she was here” (past tense). Here’s what I found out about Dixie from a blog–followed by a comment re Sam, from the same source:

iii. The Ballad Of Dixie Julep In what is widely considered the most memorable Judge Parker storyline ever, Sam flies to Arizona to discuss business with Dewey Cheatham, a publisher. While talking out on the golf course, Dewey is shot and killed by a sniper for reasons unknown. As Sam is wont to do, he worms himself into the investigation after giving his testimony to Detective Heidi Roberts, and meets Dixie Julep, Dewey’s exotic-dancer girlfriend. As the investigation proceeds, we learn that Dixie (real name Kathleen Harris, with a history of mental illness) had recently been dumped by Cheatham, who insisted on keeping Snowflake, a dog she had grown attached to. Sam pieces together that she killed Dewey over Snowflake, and follows her to her hotel room, where she begins to suffer a breakdown, exhibiting signs of dissociative identity disorder before the police arrive. In a truly epic scene, Dixie flees - right through the hotel-room window. After a futile attempt to escape into the desert, she returns to the hotel parking lot, where she is tragically gunned down by the police. Essentially, it’s an episode of Castle with all the wit and charm of Nathan Fillion shifted to the murderer.

Who is Sam Driver? In the years since (the strip’s) inception, the focus and protagonist status have shifted from the titular judge to his assistant, Sam Driver, a lawyer/professional rich twit who is so wooden and bland as to make John Agar seem expressive and charismatic, and his wife Abbey, an independently wealthy and incredibly shapely woman who is at the very least much more interesting than her husband. A variety of enjoyable and interesting characters parade into and out of the Drivers’ lives each storyline…

Florchi, the Spanish word for cookie (or one of them anyway) is galleta - pronounced guy-a-tuh (long a)

(Judge Parker, cont.) AHA! The redhead at the bottom of the stairs in the last panel today 3/20 is Sam’s significant-other, Abbey! Get a better look at Abbey + some more background on the storyline at the Comics Curmudgeon at the date 1/31/11. http://joshreads.com/?m=201101
