Modern day Republicans forget Nixon created the EPA, passed the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act. Reagan moved the party so far right that now Republicans spend as much time trying to roll back Nixon’s legislation as they do Roosevelt’s, Johnson’s, and Obama’s.
mike’s fantasy’s are usually boring but this is particularly so. the best one was where he relocated from NYC to Seattle and opened a successful business with a supportive wife.
It’s not so hard to appease everybody. All you have to do is say ‘yes’ to everything and do nothing. The trick is to move on the the next job before to many people realize their no better off.
Ah, the dark ages, when negotiation and compromise to satisfy all parties were acceptable practices. Before the framers of the constitution were superseded by Jerry Springer and the WWE. Back in the days when U.S. Presidents could actually pass high school civics tests.
I’m a Canadian, I’m not particularly familiar with the 1994 crime bill or the U.S. constitution, but I have trouble parsing the first panel. Satisfying critics WITHOUT compromising the Framer’s intent? What did critics want that was going against the constitution?

In the sudden, awe-struck silence, the great computer’s circuits made a quiet, rhythmic “ta-pocketa, ta-pocketa”…

You are gonna need Tommy Douglas for that healthcare bill. Or maybe his grandson and great-granddaughter.

I confess i often have that daydream myself. “All it requires is a couple properly-placed commas and the proper use of the subjunctive mood…”
