I had a coworker like that. She stuck her finger up my nose. I thought about pulling away from her, but didn’t think she’d actually put her finger up my nose. She did NOT believe in personal space.
What about in recent months during the COVID-19 pandemic TV news sportscasters and weathermen working at home with sometimes their pet dogs and/or cats in the background?

My dog comes in to supervise a couple of times a day.
I have way fewer interruptions. People don’t stop to “chew the fat” but will call if they have genuine questions.
I’ve found that people are logging in about 15 minutes early for meetings – that’s when the social conversations take place.
I’m thinking of proposing a virtual lunch hour maybe once a week just to chat with people.

This guy should be glad he doesn’t have a pet tarantula doing this, or a bored, friendly boa constrictor.
