"Charlie Brown is sitting at his desk at school, he has a frown and is saying, \"Why so things like this always happen to me?\" (BR BR) Charlie Brown puts his head in his hands and says, \"because I don't do my homework, that's why things like this always happen to me!\" (BR BR) Charlie Brown folds his hands an looks out with a frown an scowl while saying, \" I'm doomed! If that bell doesn't ring pretty soon, I'm doomed!\" (BR BR) Charlie Brown leans on his elbows while saying, I should have done that report, and then I wouldn't have had to worry like this...\" (BR BR) Charlie sits up straight still frowning and says,\"Oh, please don't call on me...Please, Don't\" (BR BR) Charlie Brown turns again and says, Why doesn't that stupid bell ring? Come on bell...Ring! Take me off the hook!\" (BR BR) Charlie Brown is now starting to really worry as he leans on his elbows and starts to sweat he says, \"Please don't call on me TODAY...wait until tomorrow.. please don't call on me....Please! Please! Please! Please!\" (BR BR) Charlie Brown is now getting angry and is showing hi teeth as he says, \"Come on you stupid bell, Ring! Don't just hang there on the wall! Ring! come on! Ring!\" (BR BR) Charlie Brown leans back in his chair saying, \"Oh I'm doomed! She's going to call on me next, and I'm not ready, and...(BR BR) RRRING!! goes the bell, Charlie Brown has a big smile on his face now. (BR BR) Charlie Brown and Linus are walking home from school, Linus is carrying a book and Charlie Brown has his hands in his pockets as he says, \" Oh Man, What a close call! I thought for sure she was going to call on me... I thought I was doomed!\" (BR BR) they stop walking and Charlie Brown turns to Linus as Linus says, \"Now you can go home and finish your report, Huh, Charlie Brown? Then you won't have to worry about it tomorrow...\" (BR BR) Charlie Brown starts to run calling back to a confused Linus, \"Who cares about tomorrow? I can remember seeing this strip in a book when I attended CCD when I was in fifth grade; the purpose of it was to demonstrate the premise of the strip: that if you don’t do something important, like your homework or a book report when it’s due, of course all you’re asking for is big trouble with your teacher. And if you just happen to get lucky, the way Charlie Brown does in Panel 10 when he gets his wish (after desperately trying to will the bell to ring) for another chance, then just remember, don’t keep trying to press your luck.
