well, he would be in his nineties to have participated in ww2—- so yes , it’s possible.

as for myself, I spent the Vietnam war hunkered down behind my typewriter in such hot spots as Crete, Greece and Taipai , Taiwan.

    war was hell

They must live in Michigan. Down here in Florida things are slowly opening with constant observation by the government. Won’t be going back to Michigan for a while.

Memorial Day was not meant to be a “happy” holiday! It’s purpose is to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. So, pleeeeese, stop with the “Happy” Memorial Day nonsense. It is ignorant and offensive to the families who have lost loved ones. The fourth cel is a classic example of ignorance: “Happy Memorial Day to our brave veterans”?

My son is a career Army Combat Medic with two tours in Iraq. He came back with a couple of Purple Hearts and a couple of Bronze Stars. He apparently did a good enough job they assigned him two tours as an instructor at the US Army Combat Medical School in San Antonio. I’m extremely proud of him but at the same time relieved he’s now high enough rank and old enough that he’s now permanently in the rear with the gear.

“Happy” Memorial Day“?? Why are you wishing “Happy” anything to the dead and their families? Memorial Day is not a day of celebration, but a somber day of remembrance. How many of you will fly your American flag correctly today — half staff until noon, then raise to full staff?

Nice strip today Jenny, more people need to remember this, sadly too many don’t. The sacrifices being made now are nothing compared to the sacrifices our servicemen and women give so we can have as much freedom as possible………My thanks to everyone who has and those that still are serving, this includes all who work and serve to protect and keep up well……I hope everyone remembers them this weekend and Monday
