I was wondering who this “wise man” was and was disappointed to learn he is Thomas S. Momson, the head of the Mormon church.
I say disappointed because I consider the LDS to be a more dangerous religion than most. They believe in strong psychological and social control over their members, they historically reject the separation of church and state, their beliefs are among the nuttiest, they proselytize and reproduce as religious imperatives, and they get away with it all because they are trained to be so darned NICE.
There is nothing wrong with the quotation, but I cannot help but consider the source. Of course, you Mormons out there may see things differently.
Hey, Jim12345? You are wrong. The “Mormons” DO “go by the Bible,” as well as the Book of Mormon. They are companion books, and neither can replace the other.
As for being a “true Christian” versus a “Mormon”, what makes you think there is a separation there? As far as I know, being a Christian means believing in and following the example of Jesus Christ. Since the full name of the “Mormon” church is The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints, it is explicitly stated that members of the LDS church are to believe in and follow the example of Christ, and are thus true Christians. Do you have a different definition of being Christian? Trying to tell someone else what THEY believe certainly doesn’t fit into my definition. In case you couldn’t tell, I am LDS and consider myself to be a Christian.
