My oldest son was around 7 when that game came out. He and I used to sit together and play games on the computer. He had gone to bed, and I was playing the game. There’s a part where she is in a jungle cavern, when suddenly a dinosaur shows up. It was unexpected and shocking, and cool! I almost ran upstairs to wake my son and let him see.
Lara Croft was designed like those female avatars that men used in Second Life. A woman told me you could always tell which female characters on the platform were really men by how huge a bust they had.
You know, I only recall one other character ever saying this, Hank Hill, who was giving us some classic late 90’s Texas homophobia when he was concerned with Bobby playing a game “where he was a girl” or is that transphobia in that context? I should also point out that Tomb Raider was hardly unique in having a female protagonist, there had been hundreds of games from dozens of franchises made with girl heroes before Tomb Raider.
Because a video game is unplayable by men if the game isn’t targeted to men! Women, on the other hand, should be happy either way.
(No, I’m not suggesting that the artist is suggesting this. It’s still the general viewpoint of many types of entertainment media, including the gaming industry. I don’t mention nonbinary people because what are the odds they’re considered at all by people with that opinion?)

Jason, you doofus, Peter ain’t referring to those bazookas of Miss Croft. (Oh, it’s going to be this arc. Sweet dreams tonight, Jason.)

Oh, how I sometimes long for the bliss of ignorance. I almost envy Jason right now.

The bazookas looked rather boxy back then. They got trimmed down in the more recent games, to the displeasure of a few fans.

Jason’s trying to make mole hills out of mountains.

Enjoy this brief period of sanity, Jason.

For all of his intelligence, Jason’s frequent cluelessness is remarkable.

I wonder how long Peter gets to enjoy this game.
