Wow. My husband is the reason I can cook. No matter what I ever tried—even if we didn’t like it, he would never say anything negative. Part of it is that he’s not a fool, when someone is preparing a meal for you—but also — he says, “it’s good food. Variety is the spice of life.” I feel Amanda is being at least a little selfish here. He’s working, and now he’s also getting meals ready???
Either he did something really wrong, or Amanda has had a palate trained with too much badly prepared food. IMHO, on a scale of 1-10, beef burgundy is a 10 and tater tot hot dish is somewhere around a -7. But often preparation is all. As kids we all hated asparagus but we had only ever had the canned (green slime) version. When, as adults, we all discovered fresh asparagus prepared properly, oh my, heaven on a plate.
Poor Amanda! I have to say, though, that I always ‘love’ everything my husband makes……just eat less if I don’t love it as much as other things. He is his own worst critic and knows when it’s not great. I still find nice things to say or say nothing but thank you.

I love Beef Burgundy. Haven’t made it in years. Maybe I’ll try it again this next winter. It seems like a winter dish to me anyway.

If you say you like something you don’t, you have to eat more of it.
