Jarvis just has to remember the master has to win, regardless of rule or reason. He just has to make a good show of it. As long as he does that, everybody is happy. Jarvis’ ego isn’t harmed, he knows the game is stacked against him. The young man gets his win, and stays happy…until he gets much older and wiser, and Jarvis has passed, then he remembers how Jarvis always let him win.
The problem with Monopoly is the house rules that always get added. All those tax collections and other collections do not go to the person that lands on free parking…
Boardwalk and Park Place are both blue. It’s Baltic and Mediterranean that are purple. And I can’t believe that I still remember that after all this time. It’s been decades since I last played Monopoly. Amazing the kind of clutter that’ll stick around your brain. Now what did I come in here for?
that’s actually like the episode of Adam Ruins Everything where they were playing a game of monopoly but with the extremely racist housing laws from the ’20s and ’30s.
The best way to play Monopoly is to follow the rules as written. The trick to winning is to ignore Boardwalk and Park Place, their profit radio is not that good. Instead, the properties after the Jail are the ones to get. Their profit ratio is better. Not to mention the odds of landing on them are higher than landing on Boardwalk or Park Place. This tip comes from a champion Monopoly player (not me).
And auctioning off properties when they’re not bought by the player landing on them. The first panel cracked me up good – “inherited assets” – why didn’t I ever think of that?
If Sedgwick insists Jarvis play Monopoly with him, Jarvis should insist on Original, Official Rules only. No inheritances, no special banking rules, etc….

Jarvis, the consummate professional. Sedgwick, the brat we all love to hate. I think even Karl Marx could laugh at Sedgie.
