years before anyone thought of “Baseball for Dummies”…

I am a big guy always looked like i had failed at least 2 grades compared to my classmates, but had terrible vision that went undiagnosed until high school. So anytime we played baseball in elementary school against another school, I’d come up to bat, everyone would say “Heavy hitter” and back up. Meanwhile i couldn’t even see the ball coming at me, so if i managed to connect it would just be a little more than someone bunting for the distance the ball would travel. Confused everyone so i could usually get on base the first at bat if I hit the ball but after that they’d play me close and i was always an easy out.

Let’s hope Monday we get the first of the week (and the rest) where Thibault compains to Peppermint Patty and Marcie about baseball being a girls’ game that was previously skipped over in the 1973 Peanuts run back in 2001!

In about 10- 15 years from the day of this strip, Marcie will be asking P-Patty the same question but about another object………

Aunt Bea did the same thing on the first Andy Griffith show.

Sandy is able to put together a good team, but she isn’t a good coach. She needs to listen now and then. Marcie has made it plain that she doesn’t know the game and yet, Sandy keeps treating her as if she does. Still, using the fat end as the handle could give her a faster swing.

Perhaps you should try her on chess… sir…
