Poncho: Chazz, help me! I'm "turning cat"!
Poncho: I've got an uncontrollable urge to eat this cat food!
Chazz: No! Bad dog!
Poncho: Here! Dangle this string in front of me!
Chazz: Poncho--
Poncho: Dangle it!!
Poncho: Gasp! I'm tempted!
Chaz stop being an a-hole and put his pet’s feelings ahead of his desire to rush into a relationship with Carmen
Carmen needs to woman up and go out of her way to do something GOOD for Poncho, that isn’t half-assed like the picnic.
Maybe we should have this angle of the Year One storyline be a fake-out: Chaz tries to steamroll his way into Carmen’s bed via moving in with her within a couple of days of knowing her but Carmen, in her infinite wisdom, forces Chaz back to his crummy apartment until he gets Poncho fully adjusted to a life living with Carmen and the cats.
The actual move-in date of the couple is moved off for a couple of months and Chaz gets a couple of months to learn how to be a GOOD owner to Poncho and not force his bleeep upon Poncho. Not to mention Carmen’s actions causing Poncho to gain respect for Carmen and make him more willing to move in with her once Chaz is properly housebroken as a dog owner.
it always amuses me when people start analyzing/criticizing a comic strip for elements of reality. It’s humorous fiction meant to entertain! Laugh a little!
We have no clue how long this is actually taking place, this could be over a few months. We are following Poncho’s time which it has been stated he has no sense of time
Wow - Poncho is in such a traumatic state that, not only does he have pupils now, but his mouth is so wide open as to actually show his teeth! He’s freaking out!!!…or, maybe he is turning into a cat ( ? ).
Both our cats pick at the dogs’ dry food. One cat licks the gravy off the dogs’ nightly canned food. One dog eats the cats’ dry food, and the other prefers canned cat food over dog. Both dogs like litter-pan goodies at times if I’m not diligent enough. But then I think, all things considered, it’s worth having them all, right? Isn’t it? NAAAAAAAHHH!
Cammander Bobo, periodically we see the cats’ names on their food dishes, but it’s not consistent. This is the first time I’ve seen “Dumpling”, though.
On the other hand, why bother to name the cats anyway? They’re significant only as a collective, not as individuals…
BakerBaker your thoughts are exactly right on. Yes, Chazz is acting like an irresponsible, selfish, self absorbed “Owner” instead of having a whit of care about his dog, his best buddy.
Take care of your dog, ease him into a stressful situation. Be considerate of his feelings and fears.
Yes, this is just a comic strip but people read it and often the contents color their own opinions and actions for either right or wrong.
This one is telling people it is funny to ignore your dogs needs and feelings and to put your own wants ahead by a country mile.
Carmen has no concern for Poncho either. Frankly, I don’t much like her or her attitude. The cats are OK, I like cats. But you have to carefully introduce the cats and dogs to each other to allow them to come to appreciate each other and even to become the best of friends.

wow. Didn’t Poncho go to a doggie rehab a couple years ago. That’s what he needs. Time with his fellow dogs.

My kittens do have access to the dog’s food and sometimes munch it. But the dog can’t get at the cats’ food because he would eat it all up.
So, what PPPP is doing right now is natural. Of course P is exaggerating as only he can do.
I do agree with Catfeet….Poo Poo should intervene ASAP.
