For those who claim the comic has gone Pastis prime, I present Exhibit A willingly given by Mr. Mallett. Any further complaints are hereby deemed curmudgeonly.
I really hope the Frazz/Pearls rivalry is a friendly one at heart, because both of them are great strips, just different. Frazz is much more intellectual, but there’s nothing wrong with a hideous pun – and both strips encourage people to be their best selves.
Frazz14 hrs · Every time Stephan Pastis does a Jef the Cyclist gag (and yes, we’re friends and Jef the Cyclist is me), I get a number of questions about vengeance. My answer is usually kind of disappointing — I enjoy it, so I don’t feel a need for true revenge or retaliation, and my strip just isn’t set up in a way that can bend to the situation so readily.
Until, of course, an opportunity presents itself. We’ll see if it works. And then we’ll see if as many people ask Stephan about revenge.

When preparing for a big triathlon or race, which they call training, it’s an informal fitness plan that runs for more than 30 days.

Don’t ever dare to make a pun in a comic strip, or some commentor will accuse you of stealing from Pastis
The puns in Pearls Before Swine are unique in how complicated they are, but he sure did not invent the concept of puns in comics

Resisting temptation for a month is going to be hard. There is nothing in the world so seductive as a really awful pun.

At least it’s not a Covid-19 joke. There’s already too many of them. It’s like a pundemic.

The pun’s the thing! Deciding which kind of formal to pun about is a mere formality.
