bullpucky! The President has authority to make treaties, confirmed by the Senate. Our entry to the United Nations is NOT ” an Obama thing”. Ike didn’t have the guts to step in when “rebels” in Hungary were getting creamed. Reagan failed as badly on “real” issues, despite the fact that the internal demise of the Soviet Union had nothing to do with him or his policies, it’s trumpeted as his great achievement.(As opposed to bankrupting California AND the United States with his policies.) Clinton DID stop Milosovich, but not just with US resources. The first “Gulf War” was an actual coalition Bush 41 put together, which his son couldn’t accomplish. Obama is just following the wisdom of NOT being the “only cowboy in town”.

Oh, give it a break. By the way, trout is absolutely right on Gulf War I, and it was effective enough that we made a profit on it through contributions from our coalition. Contrast with Iraq. And Afghanistan.

Hey, the oil is Iraq is paying for that war, remember?

Not a great toon. A great toon would have included the black helicopters. There are supposed to be black helicopters.

Churchie- pay attention to Lockheed/Martin, Boeing, Ratheon, and other corporate “providers”- like Haliburton and Blackwater– IT IS ALL ABOUT TURNING A PROFIT!

When it comes to the “Modern way of American war”– our corporations can, and do, “take it to the bank”.

My brother spent his career in the “industry”. His big complaint at one point about a solid fuel provider was that they were ripping off the government, by taking the bonus that should have been HIS!! NO defense contractor has “taken it for the team” in decades. BTW, a “special” bolt that went in the Chinook controls was the same as off a 707 flap assembly. For the airlines, it cost $9 - same bolt for the Army was $53! And that was a LONG time ago! It wasn’t just toilet seats.

I’m with you, dtrout; beware of defense contractors!

There is no way that something meant to blow up can cost half a million dollars! There must be a way to make it cheaper or use another, cheaper yet just as efficient weapon.

Someone spends money on purpose in there!

The cost of our weapons (not just the “delivery systems”) perfectly illustrates the inflationary and destructive spiral called “Reaganomics”.

Wow, what an insult. He’s insinuating that the President works with other nations…
