^^ and ^^^ It’s just a cartoon, people! Realism matters, but it matters less than the overall message (which is well carried here) and if it’s funny or not.
“Abortion mill,” Ewing? Their mission, straight from their website:
to provide comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services in settings which preserve and protect the essential privacy and rights of each individual
to advocate public policies which guarantee these rights and ensure access to such services
to provide educational programs which enhance understanding of individual and societal implications of human sexuality
to promote research and the advancement of technology in reproductive health care and encourage understanding of their inherent bioethical, behavioral, and social implications
It most certainly is the majority of their practice. The majority of Planned Parenthood centers don’t even provide abortion services at all & the few that do keep those services separate & have different funding for it (as they are required to by law).
Watching the current “conservative conference” in Iowa. Listening to their speeches, have to ask– do they understand they’re calling for Sharia law? Do they understand that there’s nothing IN the Constitution to support what they claim appears there with regard to “marriage”?
Planned Parenthood is NOT just an “abortion provider”. Now if you want REAL abortion providers- look to our “defense” contractors and right-wingers pushing for full-blown wars for oil. Of course end product of our energy generation, like fracking, and nuclear, may just result in a few abortions (spontaneous) as well.
Get real Junko. We find it very easy to assume that all of our foes are extremists. All that does is promote further polarization in our culture. The loudmouths on both sides are hurting their own causes. You are not helping either.
alcors, get real how? The conservative stand held by the GOP is equally against abortion rights AND education on reproduction. The Bush Administration gave significant funding for “abstinence sex ed” which was repeatedly proven not to work, but as little as possible for anything else.
Consistency is all: if you want to reduce the number of unwanted children, start with finding ways to help people prevent it happening in the first place. In my view, abortion is a d@mn fool form of birth control, but until we come up with something better, that’s the answer we have.
And I despise the so-called “pro-lifers” who are anti-abortion but pro-death-penalty – like much of the GOP. This is utterly inconsistent.
Bristol Palin IS the perfect poster child for “abstinence only” education- ignore her “don’t do as I did” bullpucky. Abortion should NOT be “birth control”, but it should be available when needed. Maybe if we just neutered all babies like dogs and cats? Nope, folks don’t have the sense to do that either.

That may be their mission statement but it’s not the majority of their practice.

The main difference between a new car and a new baby is that everyone wants a new car.

Abortion will NOT be RARE as long as ring-wing nitwits oppose contraception and demand abstinence only sex education.
It goes without saying that the right wing doesn’t give a d a m n about kids once they are born.
