For a Guys and Dolls cast gag gift exchange I drew our Benny Southstreet, who touted “Valentine” in that “Fugue for Tinhorns.” Eight months earlier I had played Valentine to his Orsino in Twelfth Night, so presented him with a watercolor of a horse in my Valentine costume with a story that he favored that horse because in a past life he’d had a favorite courtier by that name (at least till that kid Cesario came along).

The only jam I know with a horse named Paul Revere is by the Beastie Boys.

Ahhh – sweet.
