I once bought doggie cookies that looked like vanilla Oreos and one of the kids ate 2 of them before he read the package. I then tasted one and it wasn’t bad at all.
Just judging from smell, mind you. Cats are supposed to have no taste for sweet, so their food tends toward processed meats with little seasoning. They do tend to like mints, like peppermint and catnip. I think the menthol repels fleas.
Feed for ruminants like horses and cattle tends toward grain with lots of roughage, often sweetened with sorghum. Smells much better than cat food.
Once, while babysitting for my toddler nephew, he was feeding me his Goldfish crackers one at a time while we were watching Barney. Then I noticed that the last one tasted strange, and discovered it was a dog kibble nugget.

Little booger laughed his diapered butt off.
