I brought home some live lobsters yesterday (what with plague-related closures and drop in tourism, they’re inexpensive right now). Molly, our Lab, thought that they were very interesting – until they moved, then she told them off.
We have several huge snapping turtles in the pond in our front yard. (Build it and they will come.) I go out in the evening to feed the fish, and the turtles come over to the side to get fed as well. I put some SBWB (store bought white bread) on a stick and we do the “baby bird” routine. Our dog has a FIT. He will run over, barking and snapping, and the turtles snap right back. Once, I heard Blazer yelp and discovered later that one of the turtles had made contact; there was a fair-sized bloody spot on his nose. He’s a lot more careful, now, but he still acts the fool.

It’s best to leave alone anything with pinchers.

There’s a lesson here – don’t annoy a crab – human or shelled.

I’ve seen several videos of dogs doing just this misadventure. I feel sorry for the dog, but I also root for the crab. LOL
