Etymology of entomology: “Entom” comes from the Greek for “cut in,” apparently how early entomologists studied the little buggers. The Latin for “cut in” gives us “insect.”
In a High School Bowl bonus question (one the whole team confers on before answering), our captain heard and spoke my “entomology” as “antomology.” They gave us the points anyway.

Ahh, comic strips and sitcoms. Two places where elementary school children make jokes you need a college degree to get.
