Coach Thorp must have a new fangled defense since after close observation, he has two centerfielders, Down Town and Rockin’ Rob Grillo. Bad mistake Rubin and Whigham.
Do they still play the blues in Chicago
When baseball season rolls around
When the snow melts away,
Do the Cubbies still play
In their ivy-covered burial ground
When I was a boy they were my pride and joy
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
The land of the free
And the doormat of the National League
heres a song for the Long Shots, it fits their style:
Is that Gil in P3? Looks like he didn’t get much sleep the night before. Maybe that’s why Chance is hitting a high note since his coach is calling the balls and strikes.
This is the problem when you have one person coaching every team at your high school. Gil is either trying to run an “I” formation with his two center fielders, or thinks he’s running a soccer 4-4-2 with two central midfielders–which also explains the 11-man lineup.
Also, judge, wasn’t “The Humiliation of Al-Jo” a spin off of the Emmanuel movies? Or was it the Debby movies?
Finally, notice that Marty drinks from a Sippee Cup.
Gil is starting the season with batting-out-of-order because of the 2 centerfielders. A smart plate umpire will look at the card at the card exchange at the plate and say “Gil, you sure you want to go with this lineup?” I did a lot of umpiring, from Little League to high school to American Legion, and Little League was the only one without the DH. I hate the DH. I equate it to being a Marine and not having to qualify or carry a rifle. Pitchers can hit. I’m a Yankee fan, but I’m proud of the NL for not putting up with that abomination.
I came back from Friday to look at the card, and there is really some bad handwriting. That “Town” is supposed to be a “Tolan,” and I don’t see it happening.

To state the obvious, I guess the center fielder’s first name is Down.

Actually desertdwir, the DH is used at every level of baseball from Little League to the majors except the lone holdout of the National League.

Also seems like J. Karoub’s nickname must be Shish……….

HUGE ratings for high school baseball on the radio.

Grey Bear, Nice Steve Goodman reference. Maybe one of the two CFs will drop a routine fly.
Even with the DH, do they have a batting lineup of ten in high school?

Speaking of the cubs, I have lost 10 pounds this month on the cub diet. I only eat when they win.

I like Larry Froelich, I think the Mudlarks are going to pull off a lot of double plays this year with him in the lineup.

Gil messed up. DH is not M. Huang, but W. Huang. William Huang because “He Bangs”. Miffed-loved the Emmanual movies.
