The obvious yet vindicating twist to the whole story would be that Slim didn’t fix his car properly and the car breaks down before he can get away. Justice tempered with ineptitude!
In the ’70s, my favorite auto-mechanic was genuinely retarded, couldn’t read, and had trouble speaking. But he had an idiot savant aptitude for mechanical things. For example, when he installed a used transmission for me, the junkyard didn’t have the right model. He found one that he said he could make work. He took it apart, cleaned it, put it back together minus a dozen or so parts - said it would work better without ‘em. It worked beautifully for the rest of the cars long life. (Dodge Dart)
So just because Slim is a little slow, doesn’t mean he can’t do a good job on cars.
(My favorite mechanic was utterly unable to do anything with the increasingly prevalent electronic parts, however.)

Yeah, Slim. Let’s be sure our priorities are straight.

Let me take a wild guess on the continuing story line.
They are going to identify & catch this guy from the security cam footage at the GA Garage.
There will be a $10,000 reward as he was wanted for other crimes….

You mean the reward could be used toward reversing the full frontal lobotomy on Slim.

Would rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy
Someone had to say it!

My money is on BlitzMcD’s scenario.
