Hey! Not the butterflies! Really, there wouldn’t have been anything wrong with him eating ants. It’s all protein. I suppose that would be true of maggots too, but that’s just really disgusting. I mean, smelly worms.
We have an automatic kitchen garbage can and the 2 dogs we had were too small to reach up to make it open. We then adopted another dog since we knew our oldest one was dying of a nasal tumor. His descriptions at the shelter said chihuahua mix. Turned out he is some sort of Akita mix and learned how to open the can on his own so now the lid needs to be turned off unless we want to pick up everything he pulls out.
I swear our 10 month old will eat anything he finds interesting including mulch, rocks, socks, face masks, etc., etc. We’re optimistically hoping he will grow out of it.
A friend of mine once ate a Daddy Long Legs. I don’t remember why, or even if there was a reason. He was sick for days. Not sure if it was actual or psychosomatic.
Beagles never even allow a human a chance to see what they grab off the ground. If I hear a crunch, I am in a dog mouth trying to dig out a chicken bone that could be deadly. I just have to see it before she does, and her nose gives her a huge advantage. I didn’t raise her, so it truly is hard to teach a old dog new tricks. On the bright side, she is very laid back and quiet for a hunter.

It’ll be a hoot to watch him eat a firefly.

So on all other days Poncho is free to roam, but when he has to poo or pee he has to go home and get walked?! Haha

As the parent of 2 (formerly) little boys and several dogs; “Don’t eat that!” Was an oft heard refrain at our home!
