I think Ms. G is keeping things simple with a one panel observation that only stars Cathy, who this was all originally about anyway, and her dog. Including Irving, their child and all the rest of the gang would require something a lot more complicated, and I have a feeling that Ms. G is mostly retired and doesn’t want to deal with that. These commiserations let her be creative without being complicated. I think they’re fun and I don’t think Ms. G needs to include Irving or their daughter or even continue anything from the previous storylines.
One thing I learned the other day. For the first time, I wore one of those disposable masks as I was just walking two blocks to a small store to pick up two things I forgot the previous day. The disposable mask was uncomfortable after just a few minutes.
I normally wear a mask I made at home out of three layers of tightly-woven cotton that covers my face top of nose to chin and from ear to ear. I wash and then soak it daily in bleach and detergent and dry it with a very hot hair dryer. it is much, much more comfortable than those disposables. I walk in the park for hours at a time with the mask on.
I tore a long strip of cotton three times the length I needed and put stretch fabric hair ties (to go over my ears) one-third of the way on each side and folded the fabric over into three layers. I put two little pins at each end to keep the layers in place and stop twisting. It took less than 5 minutes to make. The stretch hair ties are very soft and comfortable.

I wonder why Irving isn’t in this comic. Did they get divorced?

That comic is GONE, along with everyone In it. This is totally new, with Cathy’s observations alone

Yup. I say “Wear the mask right or don’t bother.” I appreciate the effort, but so many people in my small town don’t bother wearing masks. [Sigh]
