It occurs to me, if they assigned 1-2 chapters in the various books that schools force kids to read, instead of the whole books, then let the kids decide if they want to keep reading, kids would find reading more enjoyable. .•°º(that’s the worst run-on sentence I’ve ever posted)
When I was forced to read Lord of the Flies as a kid I hated it. I should try it again now that I’m a bit older. I won’t go so far as to say more mature. ☺
Near as I can tell, the only commonality between the present conflict and LotF is people being stuck together. Reading the book would not have helped at all.

It’s having to read books like Lord of the Flies that make people non-readers.

I read all the time. For example, before I came here, I was reading One Big Happy, and after I’m fineshed here I’ll read Over the Hedge.

A lot of this could have been prevented if a certain large Orange Person would learn to read.

Reading involves effort. Thinking involves effort. 2 things 2 many of my students abhorred.
