I just finished giving our new egg lady a tour of our gardens. LilG should have been here to bask in the glow of compliments, as the biggest part of it is her doing.
This was the first time Dry! She is a lady that shows up at the bookmobile at the same time I do each Tuesday. This week she brought a dozen eggs for the two women who work there. I told her if she ever had some that she wished to sell, to let me know. Well today each of her 18 chickens laid an egg, so she offered to bicycle on over with them and said she would let me know on Tuesday if she had another dozen for me.
Not that I am aware of Dry! The eggs were delivered because she wanted to do a bike ride, if she has eggs next week she will deliver them to the bookmobile, which is still a bike ride from her place, but saves her 1.25 miles, not that I think that she minds the extra distance, she is in decent shape.
Another Shika hibye! The Feb/March issue of Fine Cooking has turned LilG into a Meatloaf lover, which she has never been. This issue has a formula for making a meatloaf that is (so far) fantastic. She has never liked meatloafs period, but the two that we have made from this formula have been great. Tonight I made one with a combo of ground chicken and turkey, along with chopped fennel, fennel seeds, onions, wine and other ingredients and it was wonderful and I served it with roasted potatoes with a chive pesto. MMMMM!

Nothing beats farm fresh eggs and I love how deep yellow the yolks are.

That explains the deep yellow yolks. You are lucky, no one does that anymore. Is there a home delivery milk service out there, too?
