Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!!! It is not seven hundred and eleven. It is seven hundred eleven. And goes between the last whole number and any fractions. eg. three and three fourths or seventeen and five tenths.
Yes I know it’s a losing battle. (math police over and out)
Wait…Snoopy’s got 712 home runs, on a team that has only won ONE game that we know of (which they later forfeited because Linus’ little brother was the Pete Rose of Little League)??? Well, I guess when your ERA is 76.23, these things can happen.
Of course, Snoopy has an advantage; he’s been playing for a long time. He also played another 26 seasons after this, but, mysteriously, all talk of his home run count stopped. Besides, one source shows Josh Gibson had 962 home runs at the time.
SPOILER – Schulz used Snoopy as a stand-in for Hank Aaron who, at the time, was also on the verge of breaking Babe Ruth’s record for career home runs and also included some very nasty real-life incidents which are referenced in the subsequent strips.

Snoopy isn’t done yet. He’s going for the grand 1000. Or, as they call it, the grand… grand.

Never saw Snoopy hit a home run though – and hardly ever at the bat.

Finally! The 1973 Snoopy tries to break Babe Ruth’s record arc is rerun after being skipped over in 2001!

Sad part is, I no longer know who holds the home run record, nor do I care enough to look it up.

I forget how many but Ruth’s strike out total was pretty epic as well.

How did Charlie Brown’s baseball team lose so much if they had a power hitter like Snoopy?
