Why is she so worried about Sam..? Shouldn’t her kids be her primary concern?

Charlene, is Sam that “bad apple”?

Um Charlene, you spend more time with Roy than anyone, just saying.

Didn’t expect her to think of Roy until she had to pick up some “chicken legs”! XD

You know that metaphor is actually pretty flawed, a “bad apple” simply releases a hormone that forces other apples to mature(ripen if you will) at a faster rate, and Roy certainly doesn’t cause others to mature faster.

Looking at the last panel I have to wonder if she’s not thinking of herself as the “spoiled” apple?
